i want to go for sign language interpreting, but i dont want to go to school for like a very long time. since i've already taken psycology and sociology; you think i have to finish getting the basics or can i just go head first for my vocational degree?

About 46% of students in the US go to a community college (the most common place to get an Associate's degree), so a lot of people are thinking what you are. Depending on the sort of field you want to get into, you may be able to get the associate's and then head into the workforce. If you wanted to be a software engineer for example, you'd need to get a bachelor's degree. You can often transition into a bachelor's program at a university after your associate's degree if you think you need more schooling.
That being said, you should absolutely make sure that you have the basics down. Basic reading, writing, and math skills are essential no matter what career you're going to be in. If you can't communicate effectively or you can't look at data to make decisions, your career prospects will be extremely limited. I'd highly recommend making sure you are comfortable communicating verbally, in written form, and have fundamental math skills through pre-calc and trig.

I think you'd be better off doing a bachelor's but if you're planning on starting with an associate's degree, you should be fine.
