My top choice college turned me down. I still don't understand why. I have a good GPA, great test scores, and, what I considered to be, fairly good essays. Also, I show leadership in my extracurriculars. What happened?

I wouldn't get too down about it. The fact of the matter is that top universities only have a limited number of spots and far too many applicants vying for those spots. That being said, it's unlikely that your scores, grades, essays, or extracurriculars were out of range; it's more likely that college admissions just had a tough choice to make. Additionally, colleges like to fill their student body with a diverse array of people. It could just be that your profile - not necessarily your school stats, but info that you can't change (e.g. race, gender, "do you play the trombone"?) - played a factor in their decision as well.
As my counselor tells me, it's not about which college you attend but rather what you do when you get to college. That said, keep your head! :)
dont be such a baby, you obviously just aren't good enough so stop crying about it and find a better school, maybe a community college
You can't win 'em all italiangirl. Almost every time someone applies for a college, there aren't a lot of spots, so they go with who they think will be the best of the best. Don't be to bummed, there's a college out there with your name written all over it, so move forward and don't look back. Stay positive! :)
