If I don't get in my dream school right away should I give up and go away to a different school or go to a community college and get really good grades and try again in a year?

Why dont you look for other schools that are like your dream school? or you could go to a community college that is in the same town as your dream school.
don't sweat it, you'll be able to go to a good school and you might not even end up liking what you thought would be your dream school
You should apply to a bunch of different schools, try to find some that are similar to your "dream school" but are a safer bet as far as getting in, than you will have something to fall back on!
if you really really want to go to one school and you dont get in, you should not settle for a diff school. just apply again after a semester or two of gen eds and your community college it would be worth it
