I have to do assinment about Climatology. So what are the conventions of climatology?
Answers
Climatology is different from meteorology. It's the study of climate (weather conditions over a period of time) while meteorology is about weather at a specific time or small interval of time.
There are a few main approaches to climatology.
1. Paleoclimatology - looks at the past and tries to figure it out based on ice cores and tree rings
2. Paleotempestology - uses same records to figure out hurricanes/cyclones/typhoons over history
3. Historical climatology - looks at humans' relationship with climate over human history (things like the eruption of Krakatoa, an Indonesian volcano, which set off a worldwide darkening/winter in 1883).
