Variety of schools?
I know that it's important to look into a variety of schools. But why should we waste money applying to a variety. My guidance counselor suggested I do so. Can someone explain to me the intuition?

This means that you need different kinds of schools on your list: ones that you really want to get into but might not, ones that you like and are pretty sure will admit you, and ones that you know absolutely that you will get into. It just helps when you get those acceptance letters to have some options, like anything else in life :)

I think it means that you need schools that you want to get into, but in a variety. Like ones that you know you will get into and ones that you are a longshot for. Who knows? Maybe youll get into them
