Transferring to a different college?
I didn't get into my first choice school. I'm thinking about putting in a transfer application after my first year. How do I go about doing that? and what are my chances of getting it?

To begin, when a student decides that the college he or she is currently attending is not the right, and decides that he or she wants to go to a different college or university, he or she may put in a transfer application for that particular school. If accepted,a student may attend that school the next year or even sooner, the next semester. A student is more likely to be able to transfer if he or she has done well in his or her most recent semesters in school Also when transferring, students should consider how many credits they have earned at their current college and see how many of those credits actually will transfer to their new school. Some credits will not transfer and so a student will have to make those up at his or her new college, which may or may not affect the student’s graduation date. Students will also need to get new letters of recommendation from their current professors, since a college professor has seen what type of work the student has done in college and can assess it. When transferring, one should be mindful of various deadlines, since these will vary from college to college.
That being said, transferring schools should not be taken lightly. Students should only consider transferring after some serious thought and should plan to get it done as soon as possible. The later a student decides to transfer, the less likely he or she will be able to do so because a lot of colleges will not take all the completed credits a student has from his or her previous school.
