I've been questioning the purpose of the SAT. I know it helps to streamline college admissions so that college admissions committees can sift through thousands of apps, but is it really that necessary? Can't they just judge us from GPAs and AP exams? Or rather, is there a better alternative?

The SATs are a measure of how well you're doing. How on earth would using GPA work? You'd just be comparing a 3.9 to a 9.3. I've seen some insane GPAs at stupid high schools that allow people to get like a 8.0. What's up with that? Until everyone grades out of a 4.0 scale and doesn't allow for insane GPAs and grade inflation, the SATs are a necessary evil.
i kinda like the SAT, because think about it, it only tests your math skills up till like geometry and thats it. atleast it doesnt have complicated stuff like calculus and all that stuff. as far as the CR and writing sections are concerned, its much more logical than creative. i think the math section is the best part, its pretty much straightforward, but you have to pay attention to subtle details, and whats interesting about that is that it opens your eyes to concepts that you thought you learned but you really dont know so well. i think the SAT is a good thing
