Aside from all the essentials like your bedding, your toiletries, and your study materials, you should also make sure to bring entertainment and accessories. Don't forget your video games, your frisbee for pickup utlimate, your DVDs, etc. Additionally, bring those added items that will make your room or your dorm extra special. For instance, if you're a cook, bring cooking utensils, pots, and pans so that you can make homemade food. Or, if you like to exercise using a CD player and your own music, make sure to bring those along.

It's better to overpack then underapck, especially if you're going out of state and are limited in terms of how much you can bring and how many trips you can take back and forth between home and school.

Pack lightly because it will be a hassle to bring things back and forth. You only get a limited amount of space to work with.

If you don't know that is the point of a trunk party. Friends and family buy and bring the things to you that you will need for college and maybe some money too.
