I want to hear from some college students. I want the low-down on tips for surviving college. Not the typical advice about majors and studying, etc. I want to hear REAL advice. 1) How do you buy books for cheap?, 2) Is it important to go to EVERY class?, 3) Early-morning classes or afternoon classes?, 4) Best places to study?

1) Go to the bookstore, look for all your textbooks, and write down their corresponding ISBN numbers. Then buy the books for cheaper online. Try Amazon, Half.com, and eBay.
2) If you plan to attend every single class over the next four years, then I commend you. However, students HAVE survived without such glory. College, unlike grade school, is not about attaining the "Perfect Attendance" award. It's about learning as much as possible to perform well on presentations, quizzes, tests, and papers. So, figure out a schedule that works best for you.
3) Depends on your preference. I'd say, on average, most students choose afternoon classes. That being said, I do notice that early-morning classes have smaller rosters and so you may get more one-on-one time with professors, if you value that.
4) Coffee shops, libraries, classrooms. Avoid your room or your dorm. Studying plus friends = lack of productivity.
