i definitely have to get an mp3 player soon. i still just have a portable cd player, and it's kinda annoying carrying around all those cd's all the time. i don't know of much besides Ipods and Zunes. lots of my friends complain about their ipods, which makes me worry about buying one. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments that might help me decide?

If you like macs, then you'll definitely like ipods.
I had both an Ipod and a Zune at one point. They both have their pros and cons, but I definitely think the Ipod is better.
I'll elaborate:
Ipod--Pros: Slicker, easier to use, cooler-looking, better design and functionality / Cons: Too commonplace (if you're looking to be different from your friends); it doesn't have video (well, it does now, but mine didn't at the time--I had a 2g ipod nano), iTunes is a pain to use
Zune--Pros: It's not a typical ipod; it has radio; can hold video; it lets you sync up between Zunes to trade songs/Cons: bulkier; too heavy; not very easy to use; Zune software is worse than iTunes
Again, go with the ipod

My iPod helps to motivate me when I run. Seriously, without an iPod, I would run 5x fewer than I do currently.

Hey!! For my birhday I was able to go to Best Buy and choose a MP3 player of my choice. I got the new ZEN. It is much nicer and cheaper than Zune. PROS: Bigger screen . . . USB capability . . . 500 predownloaded pictures . . . 5GB . . . comes in black or pink or white The reason why I didn't get a Ipod is because those are so expenisve for one cause of the name brand. Well, I hope your happy with whatever you choose!!! But definantly look into the ZEN!!!
