Reciting vocabulary is great if it helps you learn. However, there are many other strategies that can be equally effective if not more! Check out the vocabulary builder game right here on PrepMe (http://prepme.com/freeTools), which has thousands of words that can help you on the SAT and in general. You can also try flash cards (in which you write a word on one side and a definition on the other) to quiz yourself.
Another easy way to learn vocabulary is to make two flash cards as described above for each word. Then, lay out the cards so that one copy of each word and one copy of each definition are facing up. Mix them up and see if you can match each definition to each word. After a time, you can try quizzing yourself just be looking at the words without definition cards.
In the long run (even though I know that isn't what you're worried about right now) , the easiest way to expand your vocabulary is to expand your horizons. Read a book about a topic you know nothing about. Read books that are outside your usual genre or difficulty level. If reading doesn't usually help you, just spending more time talking to adults can help. Everyone has a diverse vocabulary - by spending time with a variety of people, you'll pick up some of their favorite words without even noticing!
