What's the lowest ACT or SAT score I could get and still go to college?
Answers
It depends on the college. Some colleges have high requirements (like the famous Ivy League schools), while others don't have any. I'd suggest looking through The Best 366 Colleges by the Princeton Review. That will give you an idea of what scores the colleges want.
That depends on what school you are interested in. Look up the school you are interested in on-line or talk to someone who is already in college. I wouldn't worry to much about it though. School's don't just look at you standardized test scores, there are a lot of other factors involved. Talk to you guidance counselor about the application process.
Don't worry about it too much. While a great SAT score can certainly increase your chances of getting into the college of your dreams, there's no such thing as a minimum SAT score. Schools will accept a range of scores, based on their applicant pool, but there's never a minimum. If you're below the SAT score range and have a good GPA and extra curriculars, you still stand a good chance of being admitted. SAT score isn't everything, but it sure can help.
If you just want to slack off and see the lowest possible score you can get and still get in, by all means go right ahead. (I'd actually be interested to know as well.) You should probably talk to your guidence counselor because they have all the info reguarding your transcript and previous grades and such. They would know what range of schools is best for you or what level of education you could fit into well.
If you are talking like you simply didn't do well on the SATs or the ACT test the first time you took them, don't worry. I'm in the same boat you are. I'm looking to boost my score about 200 points. I doubt its going to happen, but its a reach goal for me. That is what you should do. Set a goal for yourself and study a lot more for the next ones. Its never fun, but it pays off in the end, you'll see. Good luck.
