I'm worried that I won't be able to get these in on time. Is there a deadline? If so, are there school-specific deadlines or a general deadline for all US universities?

I think the deadlines are school specific.
FAFSA's website provides some information

In this case, the federal deadline for federal aid is June 30. However, the FAFSA is used by other organizations as well (ie state aid, college financial aid office, etc), and their deadlines are set separately. So you'll need to check with whoever you're supplying the forms to.
