Does everyone know what they want to study? I'm sooooo excited about pre-med!

that's awesome that you already know what you want to do...i'm going to major in international relations/business
I'm thinking pre-dental, but i don't know if i genuinely have the passion for it..its a great career to be a dentist, but then at the end of the day it should be something you like. the problem is i don't know what i like - i'm good at a lot of subjects, which makes it confusing. but right now i plan for pre-dental, and for me i might choose biochemistry as my core class. my fear is that i shouldnt end up after 8 years of studying and spending so much time that i should regret becoming a dentist...i'm just trying to explore my options currently.
What do you plan on majoring in to satisfy your pre-med reqs. I was originally leaning towards biology, but then I figured chemistry would be better--now I'm thinking biochemistry.
English is my true passion. I may never be able to eat again once I graduate, but at least I'll take comfort in knowing that I analyzed the works of Dostoyevsky, Thoreau, and Hemmingway.
I'm either going to do medicine or law. I've been passionate about both paths since I was 5 years old. I can't wait to delve into the college-level material.
Is it typical to get a JD/MD?
How long does that take?

JD/MDs are pretty rare, I believe. Also, prepare to be in school for a long time if you plan to do either, especially the former. It could take 8 years to even see the light of day--I mean, a degree. Heh.
I still don't know yet. I hope the first two years of core classes will help me to find my true passion.
Premed is tight but just imagine that in 20 years, American medicine will be nationalized and being a physician won't be that lucrative given how many years you're going to spend studying and the loans you are going to have. We're not going to reward doctors appropriately for their talent and they'll be screwed.
