Take advantage of any free educational resources on speed reading offered by your school or your local library. My school offered a 4-week after school session to help improve students' reading skills.
Trust me, speed reading helps a lot. There are a lot of great tips and strategies that can actually dramatically help your reading speed and comprehension. Don't forget comprehension--if you read faster but you take in less, then it's no good.

I found that I got to be a quicker reader as I read more. Reading more often will help you to develop self-strategies to improve your speed, your retention, and your end memory.
I think everybody needs specific strategies catered to them to help them read faster.

Using PrepMe's lessons related to speed reading is a great tool. The lessons taught me how to effectively skim, how to extract the most relevant information, and how to remember key points. It was helpful.
I'm not so sure about speed reading classes. I've tried them before and didn't find them that helpful. My favorite tip is to take notes as you read.
Skimming is a great technique. It's a skill that comes with practice. I can read almost 100-200 pgs an hour using this technique.
