what is early decision? iv'e heard people say that if you apply early, then you HAVE to go to that school if you get in. is that true?
Answers
There are three kinds of early applications, and most schools offer at least one of them. Early Decision is binding; if you are accepted to the school you apply Early Decision to, you must attend that school. It is a very serious commitment, so think carefully before you choose this option. Early Action is the same thing as early decision, but it's not binding. This means you're still allowed to review your other decisions if you're accepted. The last option, as mentioned above by focust, is called Single Choice Early Action. It is non-binding as well, but you're only allowed to apply early to one school if you choose this option. Make sure you review your schools early application details before applying.
There's a kind where you're not required to enroll if you're accepted. It's called Early Action. You should check which one the school you're applying to offers.
Thers also this thing called single choice early action, where you can only apply early to one school. It's not binding though. So i guess there are three kinds. That's pretty confusing?
